After spending three weeks in a coma, Amy Thompson wakes up with no memory of the last two years. She remembers being a college student, but she can't recall when she graduated, why she traded in her Jimmy Choos for Doc Martens, or how she became estranged from her family. At her side is Adam, her handsome and affectionate boyfriend...but he might as well be a stranger. The doctors believe that Amy will regain her lost memories, either little by little or all at once. Meanwhile, pieces of her past return to her in her dreams. She sees Adam--or someone who resembles Adam--but this man is still very different from the one who stands before her. Now, Amy must sift through her memories to discover who she was before the coma, who she is now, who she wants to be...and whether Adam is really as trustworthy as he claims.… (más)

This book is about someone is learning who she is all over again. She remembers everything up until two years before. She doesn't remember her love for her boyfriend. She doesn't remember all of the good and bad between them. Every now and then she gets snippets of things... Usually things that make it seem that she and her boyfriend were not all that happy. She struggles daily to try to remember, to try to be open to her relationship. Everyday her boyfriend, Adam, tries to be loving and patient. The rejection from the one good thing that has happened in his life is crushing him.

This book is full of angst and confusion. The struggles this couple is going through will rip your heart out. There is no good guy or bad guy. The story of these two will leave you with a tear in your eye. You will beg for to get all of her memory back. What will finally trigger it? You will pray for that trigger... That final piece of the puzzle to break through to her mind.

I adored this book. Stacey is such a talented writer. No one can read any of her books without wanting to shout at the roofs how great her abilities are in writing. She is able to bring out so many emotions in her readers. This book is no different.

***Received ARC in return for an honest review.***

This was a quick contemporary romance that was very engaging and delivered a realistic ending. There was quite a bit of angst in the story, not unexpected given the circumstances. The heroine, Amy, is recovering from a near fatal accident and cannot remember the last two years of her life. Estranged from her wealthy parents and a recent college graduate, she's living with Adam, the sexy, dark-haired man she's "told" she's "madly in love with," but cannot remember. In the early chapters, the book reminds me of Tarryn Fisher's The Opportunist, another contemporary romance that I absolutely love. If you're one of those readers that must know if this is a HEA, here's a simple yes or no without details: Yes, this is a happy-ever-after ending.

The author jumps right into the issues between the couple and creates a lot of mystery. Why is Amy afraid of Adam? What is he keeping from her? How exactly did this accident happen? As the story progresses, Amy's thoughts are revealed to us through 1st person POV and fractured memories which plague her in nightmares. The story smacks of realistic fiction and is rich with human emotion, regardless of the amnesia cliche.

I thought the author did a fabulous job with red herrings. I had several guesses about what Adam was keeping from Amy, but I wasn't even close. I love it when that happens! He was such a tortured soul and I really enjoyed watching the couple struggle to cope with their problems. Adam's character could've been better developed, but I still really liked him. I also liked how the author gave her characters flaws. It made them more human. My only major criticism isn't with the author, but with the publisher. The print in my paperback copy was ridiculously tiny.

The author has a fabulous future ahead of her and I plan to read more of her books. I highly recommend this to any contemporary romance fan. ***Adult Content*** ( )
