Two short stories set at Christmastime from the Love Inspired Suspense "Texas K-9 Unit" series--Holiday Hero by Shirlee McCoy and Rescuing Christmas by Terri Reed. I enjoyed both of the stories. The leads were likable and I loved all the dogs. It was also nice to catch up with familiar characters--both human and canine--from the previous K-9 Unit books. Although this book is part of a series, it can stand on its own without reading the previous books. (

Branches plucked at her clothes and scraped her flesh. Icy rain pelted her, soaking through her jeans and cashmere sweater. Slick mud covered the forest floor. She slipped and slid, fighting to keep her balance as she ran, terrified of being caught. The biting wind whipped her long hair in a frenzy, the ends slapping against her face with stinging blows.

"Deck the halls with boughs of holly. Fa-la-la-la. La-la-la-laaaaaa," Emma Fairchild sang as she dipped a roller into a paint pan and swiped it over the walls of her newest project.
