Using fun animals, alliterative names, and witty humor, Capers and Harry: High Climbing reveals how Caper the cat’s vanity gets him into quite a predicament. He climbs a tree, trying to show off, and refuses to admit he’s frightened to climb back down. Thankfully, Harry, the humble hound, is a good friend, and gets help from Fearless the Fire Duck, saving the day. It’s a fun story with a valuable lesson. The book includes a glossary, revealing the meaning of some of the words used throughout the story, such as waddled, embarrassment, hurriedly, and scamper. It also reveals that the sales of the Good Neighbors stories benefit two California monasteries. This little book is about a cat named Capers and a dog named Harry. Capers wanted to make sure Harry knew cats were braver than dogs so Capers climbed in a tree, much higher than normal. There he met the squirel who teased him a bit, and Capers realized he couldn’t get down, but of course he didn’t tell Harry. But Harry was on to Capers and had a trick of his own. Join these two friends as they try to help each other out.
I love this cute book and it’s meaning. The cat and dog story idea is brilliant because the two animals are always at odds. The author does a really nice job showing how friends should not only help friends but treat them with love and respect. Just as Harry treated Capers, with the help of Fearless the Duck. I think this would be a wonderful addition to your small child’s library. I always like reading positive stories to children and this is definitely on by Mother Melania Salem that will stay with your children for a while.
