Review: 5 stars
General: This is the second book in the series. I recommend getting The Fade, and reading it first as they are dependent upon one another. I loved so much about this book. In all honesty my only complaint is the cliffhanger ending.
I love the concept of playing around with mythology, especially Norse as the literary world is so filled with Greek, and I love Norse mythology. The world created seems to be heavily built upon in this novel so world wise, if you skip book one it should not cause any confusion at all. This book did seem to move a tiny bit slow as a lot of it was set upon back story and myth. I loved that concept because it helped me to understand but I also would have liked a little more action/ plot moving forward the whole time.
Characters: Ari- Ari was a very strong and enjoyable female. This book showed her really coming into her own. I think the scenes that showed her interacting with her wolf (no spoilers read to understand!) were the most impactful and entertaining. Although, her chemistry with Dace was very strong.
Ronan- He really seemed to catch my attention in this novel, even though he isn’t “the hero”. I found his character very compelling and his tension and storylines with both Ari and Dace almost as intriguing as the general plot line.
Dace- Dace faded into the background a little bit for me in this book, I’m not sure how he was in the first though. He was strong, fun and I enjoyed his backstory a lot. He just felt a little too tragic and backseat for me in this novel. ( )
