I love to read anything to do with Merlin and having Merlin in the modern day world was just too good to resist. We start off by meeting Jason who is an archeology student in England although he is American. He seemed a great guy all in all and took all of the things that happened to him once Merlin appears in his stride, I am not sure many people would do as well as him with all of the shocking news he is told.

Merlin needs no description at all, he is a legend. He did seem a bit dithery at times but being stuck in an orb for 1,600 years there is no wonder. With this said though he is absolutely great, he knows that he must stop Morgana and he sets about doing that as quickly as he can with the help of Jason.

During their dangerous adventure to Mongolia they both have near death experiences along the way but they also meet some very nice people who are willing to help them. And a book with Merlin involved wouldn’t be complete without a dragon’s appearance.


I really enjoyed reading Revelations, and I think it was a perfect name for the book. For anyone that loves fantasy books they will love this. ( )

I stopped reading (at 20%) when Morgan le Fay revealed she found Adolf Hitler to be a kindred spirit.

"Revelations" ist der erste Band einer dreiteiligen Serie um Merlin, Morgana Le Fay und Drachen, die in der heutigen Zeit spielt. Während Morgana die Änderung der Gesellschaften und die technische Entwicklung miterlebt hat, war Merlin die letzten ca. 1500 Jahre ohne Kontakt zur Welt und wird nun in die moderne Zeit katapultiert. Aber Merlin wäre nicht er selbst, würde er nicht schnell adaptieren können... Unterstützung bekommt er dabei (zunächst nicht ganz freiwillig) von Jason, einem Archäologie-Studenten im Master-Studium - und Unterstützung hat Merlin dringend nötig, denn seine Aufgabe, Morgana auf ewig an der Übernahme der Weltherrschaft zu hindern, ist noch nicht erfüllt.

Beim sich entwickelnden Katz- und Mausspiel zwischen Merlin und Morgana (wobei die Rollen durchaus wechseln) ist Jason nun mittendrin und erlebt so einiges.

Mir hat die Entwicklung der Geschichte gut gefallen (wenn sie auch etwas brauchte, um in Fahrt zu kommen). Besonders gelungen finde ich die Passagen, in denen Merlin die moderne Technologie für seine Zwecke ausnutzt. Insgesamt kommt viele gut beschriebene Details aus Technik und Naturwissenschaften vor, das war für mich ein deutlicher Pluspunkt. Ausflüge in Religion und Philosophie sind von der Handlung her durchaus notwendig, werden aber auch nicht überstrapaziert.

Auch wenn sich die Geschichte zum Ende hin sehr spannend entwickelt hat, fiel es mir relativ leicht, sie zwischendurch zur Seite zu legen - die Folgebände werde ich sicher auch noch lesen, aber nicht sofort.

What a kick! Who knew Merlin would be so much fun in the 21st century. The characters delight and the plot intrigues, an truly fun read. Can't wait to continue the adventure in the next volume. ( )
