Christopher and Michael are two brothers who just don’t get along. Michael is the younger of the two and he is a terrible bully. He does awful things like puts gopher snakes in the toilet so his brother gets a terrible, painful surprise when Christopher sits down.

Their parents are mostly absent, working all hours at a lab and so it falls on Chris to keep Michael in line which he finds impossible to do. As absent in their lives as their parents are, both boys still love them very much.

One night Christopher and Michael’s parents are kidnapped in a home invasion and the boys narrowly escape being taken because they were awake when the ruckus started and surprisingly Michael had a secret door in their bedroom that even Chris knew nothing about. In the room below was an amazing array of technology and equipment that Chris couldn’t believe that Michael knew how to operate because he could barely get passing grades in school.

Working together, both boys knew that this was the only way they could get their parents back.

I really liked that these two boys who couldn’t get along had to find a way to work together to achieve a goal. I liked the twist that Michael was seen in a new light with these skills that Chris never knew he had.

The pacing and suspense of this novel was perfect. No wonder reluctant readers want to read it! From dangers of the environment to bullets and bombs, anything can happen. There are lots of unexpected twists and turns, even a little romance.
The characters were well developed. The reader gets a good sense of both boys and the fears of each of them. I really felt for them when tragedy struck.

The twist at the end was the ultimate surprise for me. I really didn’t see that one coming. I thought that was excellent.

Brothers, Bullies and Bad Guys was an excellent read. While geared for middle school and teens, virtually anyone who enjoys action, adventure and suspense books should enjoy this book. I rated it 5 stars out of 5.

Thank you to the author for providing a copy of the book in exchange for a fair and honest review. A positive opinion was not required. All thoughts are my own.

Brothers, Bullies, and Bad Guys is an all action book! The author was not kidding when he said he wanted to write a book that would appeal to young boy readers. From a bear encounter, to a speed boat chase, to buglers with guns, there is non stop action. I read this book with a very open mind and that is what one needs when reading it as an adult. These two young brothers embark on a very dangerous quest to find their parents. The plot is a bit unbelievable when you are considering that these boys are just kids but it is a great story besides that fact. By the end I was more invested in the book than I thought I would be. I was worried for the boys safety and wanted everything to turn out ok!

Another problem I found was in the first chapter of the book. It is loaded with story information and is a bit confusing. I felt that some readers might put it down because of this fact. However, I found that after the first chapter it was is smooth reading!

I think that this book would appeal to young readers that need an exciting read. There are not many boring dialogue moments or moments of romance so this book would also be great for reluctant boy readers.

Okay... This appears to be a book for YA guys, but girls - trust me - you will enjoy this too! This is a very unusual story about two brothers and several supporting characters. The tale begins with two brothers and their parents but steadily encompasses several more key characters - both good ones and bad ones. It is easy for youth to follow as the action just keeps adding more characters and more action. It is fast-paced and will keep the reader's interest to the very end. The end is powerful and leaves the reader's anxious to "dig into" the next of the series.

The Siblings are as different as night and day yet are closely bonded. Most youth can relate to the rivalry yet love of other siblings. Youth will also relate to the various feelings and adventure of those in the story.

The Title and Cover of the book could not be more perfect! It depicts the main points of the story and is very appealing and eye-catching to adventurous youth. The characters are easily visualized as are the surrounding background scenes. This is especially great for youth 10 - 18 years of age.

There are a few crude words but is mostly clean. (However, I truly wish those words had been left out or replaced in a YA book.)

My review of this book offers a Five Stars rating due to the literary skills of the author.

*This was gifted to me for an honest review, of which I have given. ( )

Goodreads Synopsis: One troubled, the other trouble
One regrets, the other hates
One builds, the other destroys

Their parents are kidnapped in a home invasion and Christopher and Michael must unite or die in their quest to find them. Adventure turns to mystery when the brothers follow a hunch leading them over the Pacific Coast Mountains, across the ocean, and to a fortified island where they fight for their lives with tragic results.

My Review: Not a bad book, overall. I liked it. I didn't totally love it, wasn't sold completely on it, but I liked it. It was exciting, interesting and kept my attention for most of the book, anyways. The characters weren't my favourite, didn't really get to learn a lot about them, and I didn't get to connect with them very well, but that's okay. There was tons of action and excitement going on in this book, so if you like that, definitely check it out! I got this book from a goodreads giveaway and just got around to reading it, sorry it took so long to read and review! Thanks for reading.
