Much like its predecessors, from Click, Clack, Moo: Cows That Type to Duck for President, I found Dooby, Dooby Moo quite entertaining, chuckling at more than one point at the antics of the animal cast here, and at Farmer Brown's hapless attempts to keep up. The story is engaging, and the artwork appealing, emphasizing the humor throughout. Duck is, of course, my favorite character, and he really shines here! Recommended to fans of the Farmer Brown's Barnyard Animals series, as well as to anyone looking for children's stories featuring the state fair. ( )

Farmer brown watches his animals night and day when he suspects something is up. He listens to them fall asleep at night. The animals were rehearsing in the barn. He found his animals performing at the local talent show.

With a large text size and simple sentence structure, "Dooby Dooby Moo" by Doreen Cronin and Besty Lewin bring the familiar setting of Farmer Brown’s farm to young emerging readers. Primarily using words that the reader will understand, Dooby Dooby Moo does sprinkle in some more challenging words that a new reader may have to think or ask about, such as when the pigs are doing an “interpretive dance” or the use of the word “rehearsed” when talking about the sheep singing. The simple illustrations complement the story by showing the emotion that Farmer Brown is feeling without having it mentioned in the story. At the same time, they allow for clues as to what some of the more challenging words might mean. Never does it feel like the illustrations overtake the story. ( )
