856 CE, Ireland is a land of myth, magic, and blood. Viking raiders have fought the Irish for over half a century. Rival Irish clans promise only betrayal and carnage. Kaireen, daughter of Laird Liannon, is suddenly forced into an arranged marriage with her sworn enemy, a Viking. She refuses to submit. With no mention of love, only land and the protection of her clan, she endeavors to get her betrothed banished from her country. Will love find its way around her stubborn heart? Bram, the Viking, finds himself without future or inheritance as a younger son in his family. A marriage to the Laird's daughter would grant him land if he swears fidelity and if his men will fight along with the Liannons against any foe - Irish or Viking. However, the Laird's feisty daughter only holds animosity for him and his kind. Is marriage worth the battle scars of such a relentless opponent? With the blame for a rival laird's death treacherously set against the Liannons, Kaireen and Bram must find a way to lay aside their differences as an unforeseen darkness sends death snapping at their heels. Opinions:
Kaireen is a headstrong lady who doesn’t shy away from challenges. In the beginning of the book, she is against marrying Bram – a Viking – because she doesn’t trust him or them. Vikings have been ravaging the coasts of Ireland. She believes the marriage is a rouse for the Vikings to take their land and enslave/kill the people. For the time period, Kaireen is outspoken – which gets her in trouble. When tragedies strike, she finds out what Bram is really up to.

A neighboring clan has sworn peace with Kaireen’s family. However, trouble begins to brew within the walls. The bad guy(s) in the book are just that bad. They are not too multi-dimensional. Within the story, something else is going on underneath everything: Elva does not always act as a servant should. But, what exactly is going on? In summary, the book has some mystery, adventure/fighting, and romance.

The romance in the book is fairly standard for this time period: The defiant girl doesn’t which to marry but cannot get out of an arranged marriage. Bram is not a bad person as the reader learns fairly quickly. However, there are times when he forces himself on Kaireen such as kissing her – despite her saying no. Granted, this was probably common for the time period, but I’m not a fan of making it seem romantic. It’s technically sexual harassment. Regardless, Kaireen doesn’t seem to be upset by it, so I let go.

If you like historical romances set in Ireland/Vikings, you might want to try this book.

Kaireen, an auburn-haired beauty with a fiery temper to match, is furious with the marriage that looms ever closer in her future. It is not the marriage itself that angers her so, but her match. He is a Viking, a Lochlann, and in Kaireen's eyes this does not bode well. She sees the Lochlanns as no good and untrustworthy. She even sees him as a possible spy, infiltrating her family's lands. However, what her mind thinks and what her body thinks could mean an internal struggle for her once she sets eyes on her betrothed.

Bram is a man who knows what he wants, and he wants Kaireen. He tells her time and time again that they will marry, and seems to see through her protestations. This aggravates Kaireen to no end, causing her to want to resist him even more. However, a series of events will soon begin to change her mind.

This series of events is caused by the corrupted ways of one person. An enemy who is bent on seeing the destruction of Kaireen and her family's rule and who will not stop until this is fulfilled.

Bram could be the saving grace. But will he risk his life for a woman who wants so desperately to deny him?

I love this book so much. It has fire to it, and action. It is probably unlike a lot of the romances I have read before. I love the inner struggle for Kaireen as her body fights her mind regarding Bram. The way Bram kind of goads her at times regarding this struggle is priceless. But, even through all the goading, you can tell he truly does want to marry her. He truly does care for her, but it is all up to her to decide her own true feelings.

I recommend Viking Fire to anyone who loves romance and a fight, because you will definitely get both.

A Viking Marriage that is just as wild as the Viking himself.

I was so excited to read my first Viking story and even more so when I found out how spunky and independent the heroine would be. This story was way more than I expected. It was full of not only a charming romance, but tons of action and intrigue as well. The setting itself was beautiful and was the perfect backdrop for a Viking romance. There were a lot of different kinds of characters in this story and I had a great time figuring everyone out and finding out who was friend and who was foe.

Kaireen was stubborn, willful, and brave. She was the perfect match for our Viking hero Bram. She was forced into a marriage to a complete stranger, but she didn't allow others to dictate her life and fought back. I loved her spirit and loved seeing her interactions with Bram. They were both a great couple and brought out the best in each other.

Bram was a ferocious Viking, but he had a soft spot for Kaireen and it showed. He was a fun character and I liked learning more about him and seeing him woo Kaireen in his own way. He definitely knew how to get under her skin.

For a wild Viking wedding romance check out "Viking Fire" by Andrea R. Cooper! ( )

So, I received this book in exchange for an honest review and I have to say that I was so excited to read it because I have a new found love for historical pieces/romances.. and honestly I believe I learned to love them with the Clockwork Angel Series by Cassandra Claire and the fact that I loved history in school. :) Well..... I actually give this book 4 and a half stars..... was not sure if I should stay on 4 stars or round it up to 5..... but decided to post 4 stars. Again... I give this book 4 1/2 stars!

First let me give you a synopsis of the book from Goodreads....

A marriage to the Laird’s daughter would grant him land if he swears fidelity and if his men will fight along with the Liannons against any foe—Irish or Viking. However, the Laird’s feisty daughter only holds animosity for him and his kind. Is marriage worth the battle scars of such a relentless opponent?

With the blame for a rival laird’s death treacherously set against the Liannons, Kaireen and Bram must find a way to lay aside their differences as an unforeseen darkness sends death snapping at their heels.

This book was fabulous! You do have to get used to the dialect when reading it, but once you do it is such a great story! I loved the "love story" that the author built between Kaireen and Bram.... and all together there was plenty of mystery throughout to keep you guessing and entertained. I never once felt that the story dragged on, or was too slow or hard to get into. I must praise Andrea Cooper for such a beautifully written story. I honestly cannot remember any editing issues.... it was written smoothly and a was a truly great read from beginning to end! I loved Kaireen's character... she was such a tough and spunky character for the time period that this book represents and it made me love it even more! Thank you Andrea for the opportunity to read the beautifully written book and recommend it to lovers of romance, historical fiction, YA/NA, ANYONE!!! I am a huge fan of The White Queen Series on Starz and if you are as well..... this book is definitely for you! ( )
