I have a number of bird watching books, but none of them compares to this excellent and handy field guide. The headings and divisions make sense, the illustrations are both beautiful and detailed, while the individual descriptions of the birds are informative without being longwinded. Furthermore, the book not only lists a number of extinct North American bird species, but also indicates which North American bird species are currently threatened and/or endangered, often along with some of the reasons why this might be the case. It would be wonderful if the same author would consider compiling a similar book listing the birds of Europe (a book on the birds of Hawaii, many of which are severely threatened, would be a wonderful idea as well). Highly, highly recommended!! ( ) A decent field guide, and possibly a good bet for someone just starting out. The birds are organized differently than in most of the field guides available. IIRC, they're listed by habitat, rather than taxonomic order. Personally, I found this confusing rather than helpful, so I gave the book away. The illustrations are nice, though, but I think there are better guides available. (Sibley is my current fave). sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
