The first reason I liked this book was because of how believable the characters were. The story was about all of the things that moms do for their children. "My mom is running after me in her pajamas and bare feet. She hands my lunchbox to the driver as I fall into my seat!" From this quote, you can begin to see the mother-child relationship, as she does something many moms have done, when she realized her child forgot their lunch. The second reason I liked this book was because of the writing. I felt that the writing was engaging and well thought out. "'I hope you know how much you're loved. Yes, through and through and THROUGH. And, no matter what the days bring, I'll do anything for you!"' I felt that this quote was well thought out and fit the book very well, it engaged me as a reader and made me feel the emotions that the picture portrayed. The last reason I enjoyed this book was because of the illustrations. I felt that the illustrations enhanced the story. They were able to give readers a mental image of the written text said very clearly. All in all I feel that the 'big idea' of this story was to teach children to value their mothers. The story provides children with a realization to all of the things that mothers do for their children day after day, without ever stopping, or second guessing themselves. ( ) I had mixed feelings about this book after reading it. I liked the book because it is a heart filled book that many mothers and children will find relatable. I also enjoyed the book because it provides humorous examples of motherhood and the things that they may undergo. But I didn’t like this book because it singles out motherhood and presents the hero and caregiver as primarily a mother. This is relatable to some but may not be best to read to a large group of children as their fathers or other people in their lives may be their primary caregivers. I believe that this is a sweet book that is suitable for a mother and child to read at home but is not appropriate for a classroom. I liked that the language in the book was patterned as the last line to each scenario was, “because she loves me through and through.” The repeating of that particular line was significant as it helped to develop the main idea of the story. The language was very clear as it moves smoothly from one hilarious scenario to the next. The illustrations are very childlike and help to ensure that the book appeals to young readers. Also, the illustrations enhance the story by adding to the humor that the text provided. The big idea of the story is, that a mother’s love is through and through no matter what the circumstances may be. Oh, the Things My Mom Will Do: Because She Loves Me Through and Through! by Marianne Richmond My rating: 5 of 5 stars I think I enjoyed this more than my daughter. A heartwarming tale of the many things a mom will do for their child from running after the school bus with a forgotten lunch to staying up all night making a frog costume for a school play. My favorite part of reading bedtime stories to my daughter is the books that rhyme. If there is a fun cadence to the story then I usually like it. This was one of those books. I even got a tiny bit weepy at the underlying story of everything a mom will actually do for her child. Loved this book! sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
