There are many things I like about this book: it's a sequel to a strong story that is well written and stands alone. It has a romance angle, but that is by no means the focus of the book. It tells a creepy fairy story and does it pretty well. Like Impossible, though, I am frustrated by the character's lack of ability to come up with clever solutions to fairy riddles, and a little annoyed at the complete self-absorption that Fenella exhibits. Of course, that being said, I love that the Fairy Queen calls her on that, and the transformed fairy prince, Ryland, as fuzzy cat with yarn control issues is both hilarious and awesome!

Lucy broke the curse on the Scarborough women, but Fenella, the curse's original victim, still isn't free. She's been a captive in Faerie all this time, cursed with unnaturally long life, forced to see Padraig's twisted desires fulfilled with each of her descendants. Now Padraig's power is broken, and Fenella just wants to die peacefully -- but she can't. She petitions the Queen of Faerie, and learns that the only way she can gain death is by completing three tasks, just as Lucy did. There's a twist, though: Fenella's tasks are all acts of destruction -- and they must be carried out against Fenella's family: Lucy, Zach, and baby Dawn, Lucy's adoptive parents Leo and Soledad, and poor Miranda, the last Scarborough to suffer the full effects of the curse. Fenella is determined to complete the tasks and earn her death, and to cause as little damage as possible in the process. But there are a few things she doesn't foresee...

I enjoyed this almost as much as Impossible, and more than Extraordinary, which is a companion to these two books. Fenella's desperation and determination at the beginning of the novel are tempered by her curiosity about 21st century life when she arrives at Lucy and Zach's house. I also really liked the way Fenella's back-story, the beginning of the Scarborough curse, is woven into the narrative. I recommend this book, but it's imperative to read Impossible first. ( )

I thought this was a wonderful book - it worked both as a prequel to Impossible and as a sequel. I enjoyed reading Fenella's story, and then seeing how it affected her and the future with her family.

I recommend this for those who like more realistic fairy fiction, especially Nancy Werlin fans. ( )

I really missed so I had to read it straight from the part of Fenella . Now she wants to die. As an immortal, she is under the hold of the man who kidnapped her and tried to make her love him hundreds of years ago, Padraig. The Fairy queen informs her that to die, she must first wreak three tasks of destruction in the human world. A new curse which will entangle her again with Mr. Padraig who enslave generations of Scarborough daughters.
The Fairy queen sent her to Lucy (Fenella’s descendant,which has accomplished the impossible and broken the curse) to help her in her new mission the fairy queen sending attache to her brother Rynald in the form of a talking cat (In this join, the queen hope to achieve another target - and you must remember any dealing with fairies is never simple).
In the human world, she is meet all of Lucy's happy family - Zack, Leo, Soledad, Miranda and baby Dawn. But Fenella still has to destroy the most three precious things for Lucy family.
She must achieve this even when she understand how selfish she had been when she sign the contract with the queen. More then this she must achieve it because if she going to fail the original curse will renew and she will cause the enslavement of the Scarborough next generations all over again.

She also meets Walker, a man who she desperately wants to know. A man that she start to feel for, the 1st time since her husband die. and a man who will add to her regret to end her eternal life.

As you see as the story progressed, it became more and more interesting and I wanted to read more to find out what would happen, rolling with her in her emotional Roller Coaster.
I liked Fenella's childish curiosity and I also liked the very human character of the fairy queen - this was the 1st time that I encounter such a wise and unwhimsical fairy queen.

I recommend the book not just because it very interesting, fast pace and not just because you can't leave it I recommend it because in a deep level it give a lot of things to think about. ( )
