I wasn't sure what to expect or if I would like it. I seriously LOVED it. This was one of those books that I woke up thinking about and had to re-read a section the next day just because I loved it. This was an insta-love book but I found it totally believable. The book pretty much takes place over a week but the author really made it seem like it was longer than that and had such great insight and development into the main characters. I absolutely loved Jamie and Dmitry together, and the addition of Cat and Jess was amazing. At first, I hated Charlie and wanted nothing to do with a sequel involving him. About 3/4 of the way in, I felt sorry for him. By the end, I can't wait to read his book! Amazing and I can't wait to read more of this author. ( ) Russian mobsters, Italian mafiosi, good American cops, a wagon and a half of strong and funny and likable female characters, kids and pups... Everlasting love between a bad Russian and a good American. Sounds familiar? Avril Ashton, meet Mary Calmes. The first 40% is a great read. A (hot) undercover cop Jamie meets a (hot) Russian mobster Dmitri. They fall in love the same day. The rest is history sex, food, family and friends. Did I mention sex? At least for the next 30%. The story picks up in the last 20% or so, where both MCs surface from under the sheets, blankets and layers of cum to figure out how to get rid of The Big Bad Russian Uncle, who is, in fact, in charge and true control of the whole Russian operation. The book is very sweet and fun and humours and actually a great read, except for I was seriously contemplating adding an AU tag to it. A couple of pet peeves: Where is Dima's money? He is a son of a great Russian Mobster family. I am asking you again, Why was the boy left dirt poor after his parents died? Where was the rest of the boy's family? Why did he have to bring his 5(!) sisters on his own at the age of 19? Why does Jamie keep calling Dima Dmitri? Can you imagine someone calling their partner their full name in the throws of passion? Honestly, most people can't put two syllables together while at it, and here we have a full-blown formal version of a name "Benjamin!" "Alexander!" "Christopher!" "Montgomery!", you get the picture, I hope. Obvisly (and I mean - OBVISLY) someone didn't do their homework, and I suspect I know who that is :D "Оборот" means Revolution or, simply, a Turn-around. Pronounced as o-bo-rot. All in all, a cute fun quick read. Too much sex, tho. 3 stars. Moving onto book two. Once you understand this is not a realistic cop/thriller novel but a comedy, then you are ready to read it, and as comedy goes, it’s pretty good. Usually undercover cops, especially the young ones, believe, or pretend, to know what they are doing. Here Jamie is totally honest in saying, he is not, and he doesn’t even particularly want to. Son and grandson of police officers, he entered the academy more following a trend than for real attitude; as a patrol officer he is not bad, but the job is boring and so he happily accepts to go undercover to gather evidence against a mafia boss. And here the first hint this is more a comedy, cause, for what little I know, it’s probably naïve to think that an undercover cop will use his real name, and real ID, for the job; that is the reason why Dmitri, the supposedly mafia boss, is well aware that Jamie is a cop. And here the second hint: despite knowing Jamie is on the other side of the barricades, Dmitri falls in love with him 2 minutes flat after meeting him. Jamie and Dmitri are more lovesick puppies that grown men; actually I did wonder how these two are living alone from their families, cause sometime they remembered me more teenagers than adults. To a sex experience level, Jamie is indeed little more than a teen, having being together with his very Irish Catholic boyfriend since the age of 15, and that means his boyfriend didn’t want to bring them to the next stage of sexual knowledge (being the first oral sex). Just months before, the boyfriend in question decided he was not gay and dumped Jamie, who is now on the rebound with Dmitri, only that the rebound is way more intense than the previous love. An assortment of mostly female supporting characters (3 sisters from Jamie’s side, 5 from Dmitri’s, Jamie’s best friend, Dmitri’s best friend and fake fiancé) make a perfect corollary for the comedy plot: Jamie and Dmitri are like dolls all the females use to play, dressing them and playing home. They are mostly harmless, and indeed, both Jamie than Dmitri enjoy more their company than that of the big boys. This was a funny, uncomplicated and cute reading, very light but good. http://www.amazon.com/dp/1482027402/?tag=elimyrevandra-20 sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
