[[Lukas Hartmann]] describes in this novel how the great educator Heinrich Pestalozzi fared, after he did not get on with his learning method in Stans. Pestalozzi, who was convinced after the French Revolution that the simple peasants now set out to claim their rights, fails again and again, as the time did not seem right. Pestalozzi was convinced that with his learning method 'head, heart and hand' all people have a right to education. In Stans he tried to accept orphans, to show them his trust and to learn how to read and calculate. This orphanage was housed in a dilapidated monastery. However, since it was needed half a year later as a hospital, Pestalozzi had to go and all 80 children had no roof over their heads. Pestalozzi is ill from his exertions and was allowed to relax in the Kurhaus on the Gurnigel near Bern. With powerful language Hartmann writes what Pestalozzi thought of, that it is like a retrospective of his life and what he wishes for the future. ( ) sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
