Yeah, ok...aside from the fact that the writing was a bit weak and at times pithy, this book really pissed me off. It's the story of Valerie and her heading off into the world of college. She comes from a very religious family and is very much an innocent when she arrives at school. In walks Ethan. A bad boy, and BIG trouble. Valerie, the incredibly shy one...approaches Ethan and they become friends. Drawn together by a shared love of heavy metal music. Does this sound a bit ridiculous to you yet? Well it should because it is. In the "real world" bad boy Ethan would never go for this type of girl. And in the "real world" Valerie would never be able to handle the life style she gets mixed up in during this book. And where the hell are her parents in all of this, urging her to make good life choices? I don't think that parents like the ones described in this book would just let their 19 year old innocent daughter drop out of college to live with four males, totally tatted up and pierced up, so that they could have a metal band and do shows. NOT LIKELY!! And frankly, the crap that Valerie puts up with throughout the whole book left me feeling a bit indifferent to all her turmoil. I couldn't sympathize with her because she didn't do anything to get herself out of the situation. And frankly I think it's a bit hard to believe that Val couldn't recognize what those feelings she was having for fellow band member Brad for all those years. She grew up in a living household with parents who loved and respected eachother. Now Ethan, he's a bit more believeable. His character is more realistic though I would have liked to see a bit more character development of him in the first half of the book. Overall this book was just ok. It got better as I neared the end but I found myself rolling my eyes and being angry for a good portion of the book. ( ) This book goes from present tense to past tense but it's not consistent. Now that the story is told that way you know kind of what is coming. This book seemed to drag on for me. I really way disappointed in Val she just let Ethan treat her like crap and kept coming back for more. I was exciting to see her sexuality blossom but it never seemed to shine when she was with Ethan. I thought it was a love story about Val and Ethan but I could never in my mind see how in the world they were going have a HEA but when it got to the end it became clear it was never about Ethan but rather someone else it just took Val awhile to get to where she was suppose to be. There was some hot steamy sex sprinkled throughout the book. Great ending. I only gave it a 3 because I could wait for it to end and Val's acceptance (or turning a blind eye) of Ethan's indiscretions really just didn't sit well with me. Quotes: "As we walked back to the apartment-quickly- I mentally whispered a silent goodbye to my virginity. She'd worn out her welcome, and I was ready to become a real woman." "As I came down, I had two thoughts in my mind. The first was I could get used to this. The other was holy shit- could I survive this?" Follow My Blog 4-1/2 stars This was my first book by Jade Jamison and I loved it! Eventhough it was a bit slow in the beginning I couldn't put it down. The story is well written but the past/present jump at some chapters kinda confused me in the beginning I had to get used to it. The characters were very likeable except Val got on my nerves sometimes by her actions. I wish the end would be longer and more developped or maybe a sequel to this one to know what happens to Val. Also turning this into a serie to have the stories for Nick, Zane and Jet would be amazing! Really recommend this book and can't wait to read more books from Jade! At first I liked this book then towards the middle IT really pissed me off and I read each page completely frustrated. I got to a point where I wanted to stop reading it and throwing it in my "u suck" pile but i forged on and I was happy with the way things turned out. Valerie is a character I can relate to in their beginning, the shy innocent one not the rock star confident one. Most of the time she really pissed me off. How could she not see what a Damn loser Ethan was. That guy really needs a good kick in the nuts. From the beginning, I was and still am team Brad, that guy is the sweetest guy ever waiting for Val and always being there for her. I also LOVED Clay/Jet. That guy was super Hot and yummy. I LOVED that Val was a kickass rock chick. Ok so I almost gave this book a two star review then I read the ending and was like about f-ing time so it shot up to a four I'm really glad I finished this book, even though there were moments where I thought about tossing my kindle against a wall. All in all a good read. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
