I love science fiction, and one of the reasons I love it, is that it allows you too look at the familiar through a different perspective. My problem wtih this book was not the aliens, who I expect to be alien, but the humans were not recognisably human. We hadn't had a act of violence in 400 years? We were distrusting of new alien technology and backwards in coming forawrds, we were the least aggressive of the alien races? That just didn't sound very human to me. It wasn't a clever twist, just an unrecognisable one. So while the various characters were quite amusing and certainly inoffensive, I couldn't get into this book. If they had just set it totally amongst aliens and made the humans just another group of aliens, I would have liked that better, rather than taking away qualities that we have struggled with for milennia with no explanation other than the long war 400 years ago... I started reading but ended up skimming this book. Not badly written, I just didn't believe it, so couldn't suspend my disbelief long enough to enter it's world. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

Good story, good portrayal of aliens. Lots of loose ends, although certainly a complete story. I wish there had been more, but this is a worthwhile standalone. ( )
