Un premier épisode ambitieux, qui ouvre des perspectives étourdissantes en faisant des Avengers des héros d'envergure universelle, trop grands pour la Terre seule. Moins mystico-cosmique que les sagas de Starlin, Kirkman construit un édifice dense et profond, ajoutant des individus - mais sans oublier de leur donner un peu de fond - et semant de nombreuses graines destinées à jaillir en un bouquet final d'une amplitude sans précédent. Il a la bonne idée de ne pas écraser ses protagonistes et parvient à édifier quelque chose d'intrigant, manifestement riche, qui renverse en outre quelques idées bien arrêtées. On pourrait se demander, après Galactus, le Beyonder, Thanos et autres super-puissances, qu'est-ce qui pourrait bien faire peur aux héros terriens qui ont toujours réussi à vaincre ces pseudos-divinités ? On retrouve quelques mécanismes : des adversaires trop forts mais un plan B mis en place au préalable pour contrer de telles éventualités. À l'époque de Secret Invasion, c'était Nick Fury qui avait gardé quelques atouts dans sa manche retorse. Ici, c'est Stark dont le cerveau semble toujours avoir quelques coups d'avance sur tout ce qui pourrait nuire à ses ambitions. Sur le coup, ça va marcher, mais qu'en sera-t-il des retombées, des conséquences ?
Et en plus, des artistes au sommet, avec notamment un Jerome Opeña expressif. Du grand art. ( )

I started to read "Prelude to Infinity" but then the "previously" section seemed so interesting I decided I wanted to start from the beginning. I love "cosmic" stuff and I'm loving this huge crazy plot. The art's good too. The only problem I have with this is Spider-Man. They're writing him like a huge douche and he's not even funny (not even trying to be funny). It's so bad I feel like there must be a reason for it. Like did someone close to him die right before this? Or maybe he's been taken over by someone else? It's just not Peter Parker at all. The rest of the dialogue is decent, not bad, just not especially entertaining. ( )

I think this is actually weaker than New Avengers Vol. 1 but it has an interesting strength of its own. The big cosmic stuff here feels exciting and new -- the downside is that the issues that don't focus on that feel clunky and disjointed (the Captain Universe stuff feels like it's dropped in from some other storyline entirely). I guess I'll continue though, since I, told this is basically the other side of the New Avengers coin. ( )

This was confusing from the beginning until the end. There were action scenes and dialogues that were introduced into the story that can really make the reader misunderstand everything. It felt like it doesn't have a proper plot and story, we just get random fights and monsters and robots.
Also, many characters are not that known compared to the 6 avengers from the movies.
I kinda forced myself to finish it but I'm not gonna continue the series although the ending was pretty interesting and it could spark up a flame of curiosity but hell naw. I'm alright. ( )

Tony Stark and Steve Rogers decide that the Avengers need to expand in case something ever happens. Something about the set up of the book reminds me of Justice League Unlimited. It has the feel of setting up for a big event as well. I enjoyed reading about the origins of the two characters I didn't know but really I could take or leave this one. ( )
