very entertaining read, but the ending requires a bit of suspension of disbelief ( )

Enjoyable globe-trotting action/adventure story. Continues the on-going story of Michael St. Pierre, retired world-class thief that can never truly retire. As exciting as these stories are, I wish they'd get back to the blatant supernatural aspects of the very first book in the series.

In "The Thieves of Legend," Richard Doetsch provides his readers with a story dealing with greed, master thieves and family relationships set in the exotic world of Beijing and Macau.

Michael St. Pierre is a professional thief. Promising each other to leave the life of a thief, he and his girlfriend, KC, vow to give up the life of crime. However, he's persuaded by a friend to take on one more caper.

When KC finds out about his betrayal, she decides to leave him. However, at the airport, she's enticed to join another woman on an adventure. This turns out to be an elaborate scheme to kidnap KC. She's informed that she has to steal a part of a puzzle or Michael will be killed.

Michael is also set up. The leader of a rogue U.S. Military group orders him to steal the other part of a puzzle or the leader will order KC's murder.

In a fast-paced action thriller, the author makes the action quite believable while leaving room to describe the historic elements of the story. Along with his skillful plotting, this provides an entertaining novel. ( )
