From the earliest days of European settlement in New Zealand there have always been the less charming members of society. This book gives short accounts of many of them right up to the modern times. I like how there are only four to five pages on each person, just a 'taster' to interest the reader who can then seek more information if desired. Included is an introduction and contents page with four divisions: Swindlers, Tricksters & Charlatans; Murderers & Villains; Crooked Politicians & Dangerous Dreamers and Delinquents & Renegades. The back of the book contains a bibliography and sections of photographs are included - I even discovered a photograph of my distant relative Esther Wallis (mis-spelt Wallace in the book) who gave evidence at the trial of Minnie Dean: http://tauranga.kete.net.nz/tauranga_local_history/topics/show/1299. A great book that feeds my interest in New Zealand history. Very much enjoyed. ( ) sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
