The book Are you a Butterfly by Judy Allen is about the life cycle of a butterfly. It talks about what happens during each stage of a butterflies life and how it transforms from a caterpillar into a butterfly. The illustrations are great to help young kids see exactly what the butterfly will look like during each stage. I personally liked in this book how in depth it talked about what happened during each stage, and why it happens. However, I didn't like how when talking about the butterflies antenna it called them "feelers". If I was using a book like this in an educational setting I would hope they would use the proper terminology when referencing parts of a butterfly. I would use this book in a science lesson about life cycles. It shows exactly how the egg transforms into a caterpillar and eventually a butterfly, and in the beginning it mentions how the butterfly lays eggs and starts the cycle over. ( )
