This is a teen graphic novel about Second Lieutenant Te Moana-nuia-Kiwa Ngarimu of the 28th Māori Battalion who won the VC during World War Two. On 26 March 1943 Ngarimu led an attack on Point 209, a strategic position at Tebaga Gap in Tunisia. Despite German counter-attacks Ngarimu and his men managed to defend their position, but unfortunately Ngarimu was killed.

Black and white illustrations with red used occassionally by the illustrator. I was impressed with the pictures of soldiers equipment in the front and the list of sources used and it is great to see a copy available in Te Reo. This is not the type of book that I would usually pick up, but I think the story will have great appeal to boys in this format. ( )
