What ensues is a race against time as other classmates are also murdered in the same fashion.

WOW!!! Is what I want to say about this book. Another great book by Cheryl Bradshaw. I couldn't stop reading this one either. Every free moment I got I was reading this book.

This is the third book in the Sloane Monroe Series and Sloane is back for more Private Investigating. I have a Secret takes us back to Sloane's home town. I can't even pronounce the name let alone type it without looking at it.

The book starts with Sloane on a reunion cruise for her high school. While on the cruise one of her male classmates is murdered. His name is Doug. Sloane wants to discover the truth about his murder even though at first everyone says it was an accident.

The twists and turns this story takes had me thinking about all the different possibilities of who could be the murderer. After Doug is murdered another high school classmate is murdered and his name is Rusty. Then a third murder. Sloane is determined to figure out what is going on. She will discover the who and why in I have a Secret. I can't wait to find the 4th book and to start reading it!! ( )

Private Investigator Sloane Monroe joined her high school classmates on a cruise commemorating their 20th reunion. While renewing old friendships and old grudges, one of the men, Doug, disappears. The surveillance tapes show that he was stabbed multiple times and his body was thrown overboard.
His body is not found, nor is the murderer identified. The classmates, including return to their lives. Doug's wife, Trista, wants to hire Sloane to help solve the murder. Sloane refuses to take any money for the work and returns to her hometown to find out who killed him. While she is there, additional classmates are stabbed to death and she receives messages (slashed tires, notes) telling her to drop the case.
She discovers family secrets and relives one of her own on a visit to her family's home. There is a logic to the story except that one of the main characters is not qualified for his job. I can't imagine why he is working in that position.
The book is fast paced with minimal repetition and believable dialogue.
I got this book as an Amazon Freebie. ( )

Bradshaw’s I Have a Secret Captivating

I Have a Secret by Cheryl Bradshaw will not keep its secret for long. This, the third novel in the Sloane Monroe Series, finds the hero of the tale, Sloane, placed in the all too often dreaded position of attending her high school reunion. Make no mistake; this is not one’s average High School Musical meets Psycho slasher murder mystery.

The characters are clear, vivid, and likeable. Most are reminiscent of people anyone may know, whether they are individuals one likes, or loves to hate. Each carries his or her own brand of baggage and scars, but most create their own version of an enigmatic hell. Sloane herself is strong yet vulnerable at times when she is faced with her past.

The plot is well written and precise in its first-person flow. The landscape echoes Bradshaw’s characters in the easy yet intense movement from present to past and back again. Readers are inducted into the class, experiencing each escalation in tension and danger. A word of caution for all those junior detectives out there, it is quite easy to be lead astray while hunting the perpetrator in this tale; the truth seemingly comes out of left field. The fact is, such speculation is part of the excitement one experiences solving such a well-honed mystery work. ( )

I received this book in exchange for a honest review from the author and I'm so glad I did. Since it's #3 I had to purchase the first 2 since I hate to read out of order, and I loved them all. This book starts out with a murder on a cruise, at a high school reunion. A fellow classmate is murdered and thrown overboard, leaving Sloane to figure out who the killer is. In order to solve the murder she must return to her hometown, a place she has avoided since she was eighteen. Thankfully she won't have to go alone she has her hunky Giovanni to keep her company and protect her along the way.

In a small town where everyone knows everyone Sloane will have to confront people she hasn't seen in twenty years and some secrets aren't meant to be told. After arriving in Tehachapi, another body turns up stabbed just like the body on the cruise. Sloane received threatening messages telling her to leave but that's not all, those who have something to hide are also telling her to leave. With the help of Giovanni, some luck, and sleuthing will Sloane find the killer before another body turns up?

I just love this series, each book is unique and entertaining. They draw me in right away and keep me on my toes. It's a easy series to get lost in, I love a book that keeps me guessing, and this one did it. I had it all wrong and I love when they stump me. I like that Sloane has Mr. Right in her corner because every great heroine needs a strong man to support her. I like the mystery around Giovanni, I still haven't figure out what he does, but it's been hinted he's Mafia. So you could say he's a good guy who has a bad side, and I like that. I like that the relationship with them is growing in each book, it's allowing Sloane to grow as a character as well, and I enjoy books that you can connect with the character. Overall I love the series, I can see myself reading them over and over. ( )
