How can anyone ever criticize a person's true life story? This book was captivating in it's content and yet another reminder of how lucky we are to live in a free democratic society. The atrocities that people have suffered in other parts of the world in times of war are so unfathomable to those of us who never had to pay that price for their freedom. The desire of this man to gain that freedom oozed off the pages. How could it not - he survived unspeakable odds to be able to tell his tale through Ms. Rushton. The book was linear in it's telling, but isn't that what one's life is - a line from beginning to end? Some have more curves in that line than others! ( )
