This book is in Danziger's usual style, whereby he interviews many members of an enclosed community and elicits a good deal of information not only about them but also about the way in which the community works. The book was written just before the start of the factionalism which almost crippled the Chapter of Lincoln Cathedral but the seeds of those problems can already be discerned. A very wide range of people are interviewed and you get a real sense of the community which works within a stupdendous building. ( )
