Jilli and Jim notice that someone, a weird lady in a pointy hat, is next door painting ice cream cones and gumdrops on the outside of the small house next door. They are afraid, because it looks like the Gingerbread House, and, with the pointy hat, the lady next door looks like the witch in the story. They soon find out that the lady is actually going to be their new teacher in the fall! ( )
Book award winner Patricial Reilly Giff has done it again and has written another successful children’s book. The Big Something is a young readers chapter book that tells a story of a little girl Jilli, her older brother, Jim, and their dog, Fiercley. The story begins with Jilli and Jim peeking through a hole in the fence in their backyard and discovering a “big red something” being built. They see a lady wearing a witch hat painting ice-cream cones and gumdrops on the walls. Jilli and Jim think that it’s Hansel and Gretel’s house and she is the witch who will eat them for supper. Jilli and Jim were very scared. The reader soon learns that the lady is not a witch at all, she is a teacher, and this is the new school that she is painting. Both Jilli and Jim are super excited about their new red schoolhouse. Children of all ages would enjoy this book. It has a nice story line to it, and it is very easy to follow. The illustrations in the book go right along with the storyline. Children who do not yet know how to read could easily tell their own story by the pictures.
When Jilli and Jim see a big red structure being built next door, they imagine all kinds of frightening things before finding out the truth. No se han encontrado descripciones de biblioteca. |
