Sea Animals, by Angela Roston, is a book that introduces preschool age children to creatures that live around/in the sea. The animals explored are: dolphin, creab, clownfish, seagull, sea lion, bullhead shark, and sea horse. Each animal is featured in a double-page spread and includes photographs of each animal-entirely, plus drawing of anatomical features. The animals’ parts are labeled, as are the specific detailed drawings of the part of the animals featured. For example, the bullhead shark photo has the head, snout and fins labeled. The detailed drawings of the tail, gills and nostrils also feature labels. On the double-page spread, there is a drawing of the bullhead shark swimming in its environment surrounded by sea plants. A brief description on the left of each page provides information about the featured animal, i.e. where it lives, what it eats, and a fact about the animal (“sharks have a good sense of smell”).
