Libby’s Got the Beat is about what you do for fun, and what you do for work, and how sometimes one gets in the way of the other. Libby and her friends, Etta and Celery, love making music, and form a band. At the same time they have to retake the grade five provincial achievement test because they did so poorly the first time they took it. Professor Brayne comes to their school to drill the students in test taking. He puts a ban on sports and music and art so the children can concentrate on preparing for the test. And that’s when Libby and her friends rebel.
