"Sixteen-year-old Riley Williams has been able to see ghosts since the car crash that took her mother's life and shattered her family. Guilt-ridden over the belief that she's somehow responsible for her mom's death, Riley is desperate to see her mother's elusive spirit to gain her forgiveness. When her father moves the family to Scotland so they can all start over, Riley believes her life couldn't get worse--that is until the ghost of nineteen-year-old Ian MacKinnon catches her purposely cutting herself. An uneasy truce quickly turns into friendship, and soon Riley's falling hard for Ian. Riley believes her gift could help Ian end the curse that has kept him tied to the land for centuries, but that would mean letting him go forever and she's not sure she is strong enough to do that. As if her life wasn't complicated enough, the malevolent spirit of the woman who killed Ian returns and she'll stop at nothing to keep Riley from helping Ian find eternal peace."--Back cover.… (más)

I definitely enjoyed this book

I felt kind of sorry for her. I mean she was cursed with seeing the dead, and then on top of that she had to try to help them crossover. But when it came to the witch, on man she was real pain in her a$$, she really had her hands full when she came along, and just added more stress on top of stress, and it was literally killing her. You have got to read this first one, I am now moving on to book 2. You will love this book, I felt like I was right there with her, I got so engaged in it. It took me a day and a half to finish. I couldn't put it down 👍👍👍👍👍 ( )

**spoiler alert** Spoilers:
"The Deepest Cut" by J.A. Templeton follows the story of 16 year old Riley a year after loosing her mother and being able to see ghosts. Where she moves to Scotland and she meets a male ghost named Ian who has been cursed by a ghost named Julia a fellow person from his time while she works on breaking his curse she stopes cutting herself, falls in love with him, and encounters the dangers of Julia.

I would give "The Deepest Cut" by J.A. Templeton a 5 star review because, 1; where this takes place really goes to the overall feel of the book 2; I loved the concept of a girl being able to see and talk to ghosts 3; the story overall is really cute 4; The concept of her falling in love with the ghost and then he goes to the afterlife is cringe to me and 5; I just wish that the ending was different. AMAZING! Too bad it ended with a major cliffhanger... I can't wait to read the next book!
I was hooked from the very beginning. This book has everything I like: castles, ghosts, Scotland and romance. It was a quick read but I wish it lasted longer. Riley is a strong female character that falls in love with someone she can't (literally) be with but still she tries her best to help him.
I got this ebook for free in amazon and also the novella "The MacKinnon Curse". Go get them! ( )

Riley Williams can suddenly see ghosts after being in a car crash that took her mother. Riley blames herself for her mother's death and is having a difficult time dealing, she cuts herself to find release from her guilt and sadness.

Riley's father moved her and her brother halfway around the world at the suggestion of her therapist that a new scenery might help with her depression and delusions that she can see ghosts. Riley is not a willing medium, she doesn't want to be bothered by annoying spirits. Who would? But when she and her family moved into a very old Scottish Inn, she see's Ian MacKinnon, she's tries to avert her eyes not wanting him to see that she's aware of his presence. Ian saw Riley cutting herself and with concern in his eyes and voice, and his drop dead gorgeous look, pun intended, Riley's resolve to avoid him falters. Riley is inexplicable drawn to Ian, she cannot get enough of his piercing blue eyes, old world charm, and dashing good looks.

Soon Riley finds out that Ian's spirit was cursed to roam the earth for eternity. And even though she would lose him she has to help him move on. Although that means she would have to go up against a scorned powerful spirit who practices dark magic and would be a danger to Riley and her family.

This was a good story, I think the author tackled a very serious topic. She did a very good job with the heroines depression and her cutting. She took it seriously and didn't just brush over it. The teenagers came across as real too, with their drinking, pot use and their language, seems right on par. Don't know anything about the Scottish teen brogue but I guess everything else sounds typical. There wasn't a whole lot of build up to Riley's ultimate showdown with Laria, the dark spirit that cursed Ian. Even their showdown was over pretty quickly. I gathered from the ending that this was just a preview of what's to come for Riley, we're just seeing the beginning of her power and her calling to help spirits cross over. ( )
