It provides words that match the images in the book as well. This book is about a mouse who is competitive and is trying to find the largest apple. Throughout the book, he learns how to share and be competitive at the same time (sportsmanship) ( ) This book is a good book for intermediate readers because it includes a good amount of text and covers in it. There are very vivid pictures which are helpful to keep students engaged and help them visualize what they are reading. It also has a positive message about fair competition and sharing, even when you lose. A fun read for young children in the elementary level of 1-2, the fictional book provides visual aid to pairing words and imagery about a young mouse starting school and playfully competing in a competition against his classmates to see who could find the largest apple. Although there exhibits competition in the book, the book is able to demonstrate to children the concept of the positive effects of sharing and making fun from ambition. Because of the book’s many visual aid paired with the story structure, this book makes for good practice to young English Language Learners to grasp the concept of reading and listening comprehension, while also making it a fun read for the rest of the class.
