Cannot wait to read the rest of the issues in this series. A great introduction that left me wanting more! I love how we see Kate become Bat Woman. Great characterization, heartbreaking back story, and just the right artwork that made it perfect.

Kate is flawed which makes her real thus as the reader I am able to identify with her. I look forward to reading the next issue. ( )

In this graphic novel, we are introduced to Kate as Batwoman as well as how she came to be Batwoman.

The graphics are highly detailed, telling a story on their own as well as enhancing the accompanying narrative.

Characters are flawed and authentic for their reality. Throughout the story, development occurs in multiple ways and and is demonstrated by the graphics and dialogue/monologues.

Overall, an interesting and fun read. ( )

J.H. Williams III has done it again. If you don't know what I mean by "again" please refer to Greg Rucka and J.H. Williams run in Detective Comics or read the collected trade entitled "Batwoman Elegy," trust me you won't regret it. The pencils done by Williams is truly stunning, in combination with Dave Stewart's coloring, the art is visually arresting. The story is well placed, as well as compact, but not too dense as to retract from the effectiveness of the story. As Batman attempts to uncover the true identity of Batwoman, he tracks the movements and patterns of Kate Kane, as his detective skills prove themselves to be the world's best yet again. There are a number of transitions in and out of a fight scene between Batwoman and members of the Religion of Crime and Batman's sleuthing into her secret identity; but this does little to stunt the development of the story. This zero issue is a great primer for those that have not read Batwoman Elegy and although not essential reading is a visual earthquake. Highly recommend. ( )
