The hipster thing is a bit of wrongfooting, because really what Frase is arguing is that "producerist" bias, whereby your value comes from working a job, even a useless job, and not being a parasite, even a lovely parasite who produces poetry or is a joy in people's lives, should be reworked to say something like "we all contribute to the creation of human society--let's value all of us" and then that leads to support for things like a citizen's wage. So obviously I agree, but using hipsters to make the case when a vastly greater proportion of producerist bias is directed at the lumpen, the old, the sick, the immigrant, etc., just seems kind of cheap to me.
