This is the compulsory "Which of X's books do you think is the best"? thread, which every author appreciation group has to have. A bloke in the pub said it was a tradition, and old charter, or something.
For the purposes of clarity, please substitute "X" above for "Robert Rankin" or, if you have a valid reason, any other author.

Bestest: The Antipope. Made me laugh like a good'un when I first read it.
Can I suggest the worstest, too? Okay: Fandom Of The Operator. No real reason except perhaps I lost all sympathy with the main character when he was mistreating the resurrected people, some of whom were his friends (girlfriend even? If I remember correctly, that is).

Of the early books, I think perhaps East of Ealing but any of the early Brentford novels are great. More recently, both the Witches of Chiswick and the Brightonomicon were very funny.
