I've gotten terrific recommendations on books set in the various provinces and territories, but how about books that span the entire country?
I really enjoyed Apples to Oysters by Margaret Webb. In this book, Webb focuses on a single food item and a local farmer from each of the 10 provinces and the Yukon.

One I haven't read yet that's on my wishlist is Beauty Tips from Moose Jaw by Will Ferguson.

I haven't read it yet but I think Scorned and Beloved will qualify under this category.

Pierre Berton has quite a few books that might qualify for your cross-country tour. In the 'General Canadian' section of my own list of Canadian books to look for, I have his My Country: The Remarkable Past.
And maybe Caesars of the Wilderness by Peter C. Newman. Though my experience with the little library in my new Texas neck-o-the-woods tells me that I shouldn't hold my breath while trying to find many Canadian reads here. Its back online to find more Canadian lit for me!
