So, what has everyone been drinking of late?

I've been enjoying some Islay-driven blends such as the Black Grouse and Black Bottle.

On the bourbon front, it has been great to have some Wild Turkey Rare Breed and Four Roses Single Barrel back in the house.

Generally I prefer Islays, but their price increase in recent years has nearly put them out of my reach. Thus, I've been favoring Bourbons as of late.

Of the latter, I just has a snort of Noah's Mill. Quite good. Sells for about $42 where I live. Seems to be the matured older brother to Rowan Creek.

I've also been mixing 'Sazarac cocktails' (rye whisky with a dash of absinthe & bitters). It's not something I'd want every day, but is certainly an interesting interplay of flavors when one wants to mix things up a bit.

I'm enjoying a glass of Bulliet bourbon right now! Too bad there aren't many whisky drinkers here at LT! This group seems to go dormant too often!

This relly should not be a dormant group.
While I have not been able to sample lately due to a health issue I really miss my Laphroaig.

I've switched my everyday bourbon (actually about once a week) from Maker's Mark to a similarly priced, but I think smoother Elijah Craig 12 yr old Small Batch, whatever all that means. I've got an order in on a bottle of Pappy Van Winkle, just to see what all the fuss is about. If I get a bottle I'll report back, but I don't really expect to get one this year.
