Well we don't have to talk running all the time! :)
Husband and I got a new puppy on Thursday. He is half German Pointer, half English Pointer. He is only 8 weeks old and still floppy and tumbling all over himself but once he's a bit bigger (and better balanced!) he'll be my running buddy. Since we live kind of out of the way I don't like to run by myself, nor do I like to drive somewhere more populated every time I run.
I think we are going to name him Miles. Since he'll be going miles and miles with me.

Aw - lookit him! so sweet!!
And what a good idea - I have been wondering whether to borrow a dog to run with in the early mornings. Unfortunately I like greyhounds and they can only run about 3 miles!!
Hope you have lots of fun with your new addition to the family!

Miles is a great name! Just like that columnist in "Runners's World" magazine.
My Labrador tore her paw pads up while putting in the miles with me. So, she's out for at least 2 weeks. So between her abrasions, and my plantar faciitis, we are quite the pair. I miss her a bit, but at least I can sneak out to some no-dogs-allowed venues.

Sandy, I didn't know about the Runner's World columnist, but he must have good taste in dog names! ;)
Poor pup with torn up paws! Give her an extra kiss! Get better, both of you!
Lyzzy, I thought about a Greyhound but their shorter distance abilities was definitely a drawback. I hadn't really planned on getting a Pointer, but friends bred them and were giving away the pups. Since they are great runners, smart, and friendly we decided it was a good match. The furthest we've gone so far is two laps around the yard, but that was for learning good leash manners.

All is well with HRH Sandy (my dog). I run and she walks along next to me.
'Tho', I wish I was all done with this #$@&**& stiff, achy, burning, bilateral PF.
Hey, does anyone know a surgeon who could chop off my heels and replace 'em with rollers?
Oh, well, one-day-at-a-time, as the drunks say. If I increase mileage and it gets worse, I'll switch to reading.

I ran in Holyrood Park in Edinburgh yesterday - man, that's steep. Lots of lovely dogs out walking, didn't see any running ones though!

lol! Very good, Sandy! Sounds like a good plan to me. :)
Miles and I have been doing lots of run/walks. He's 12 weeks old now, so still much to young for any kind of distance. We ran/walked about three-quarters of a mile this afternoon.

This has nothing to do with dogs or running, so it is certainly "unrelated news," but I wanted to share that husband and I are expecting our first child in October! :D

I'll keep running as long as it's comfortable. I'm sure at some point the weight of baby-belly will make me switch to walking, but I'm still running for now!

Two weeks to due date! I'm mostly walking at this point. I can jog short stretches, but I haven't "gone running" in a couple of weeks now. I feel great though, so I think all the running earlier has been beneficial!

Hey Lefty! I've been thinking of you and wondering how you're doing. Wishing you much happiness as your due date gets closer. I know you will experience much joy. And I bet you will bounce back quickly thanks to the running.
