Question about Margaret Erskine's Inspector Finch series

I looked online but couldn't find an answer, I hope someone in here might know...

Author touchstone: Margaret Erskine

There are 20 Inspector Finch titles listed on LT as belonging to a series. The first one is The Painted Mask, the second one The Voice of the House and so on.

However, I have several paperbacks issued by Ace Books with the header "An Inspector Finch Gothic #X" on the covers, and those have for #2 (An Inspector Finch Gothic #2) No. 9 Belmont Square. But this one lands in spot #13 on LT's list.

Can anyone explain the discrepancy? Are the "Finch Gothics" perhaps a sub-series of a series?

Thanks in advance.

What I am seeing is that the series was released overseas and in the states. The US versions have different names and not all of the books from the original series were offered initially. Then the US publishing transferred to a different company and the original series was released by the original names. Maybe someone else can find more about this.

Thanks, that begins to clarify things... I finally found something about the author (the first few pages are filled with her Elizabethan namesake, king's mistress etc.):
