Historical Fiction WWII SOUGHT

Hi I’ve been asked to find a historical fiction novel originally published in French. My client isn’t sure if there’s an English version or not. She said it is set in WW2 in the French Alps and focuses on men who flee to the mountains to avoid STO - being forced to work for the Germans. The women left behind engage in conflict with the Germans to save their village. I have found a lot of interesting factual information about this era and the men fleeing with the approval of their wives/families but no historical fiction . Any assistance would be greatly appreciated . Stacey
