Harry hit out at Cerrone. Does he play too hard ball or is that needed?

He got what he needed and got the lady collecting the mail a better life. This book was written in 2006 and even then I don't think he would have gotten away with knocking the guy around like he did...but he knew that Cerrone wasn't going to open up a can of worms by reporting him. So...happy ending.

Harry didn't like how Cerrone treats women so he gave him a taste of his own medicine.

Cerrone is low-life, I don't have a problem with Bosch not treating him respectfully. I also think it was a nice thing that Bosch did for Cerrone's 'tenant'.

Harry always tries to help the underdog. I'm not sure that he killed Church due to issues involving his mom, but I know he has a soft spot for single mothers, and I do think that has to do with his mom.

Well it sure got results. So I think Harry does the best he can.

I think it was part of how he read the situation with Cerrone and knew that if he embarrassed him in front of his woman, then Harry would have the upper hand. Also, as >5 Olivermagnus: said, Harry does have a soft spot for the underdog and I think this was his way of making the point that none of this was to come back on Cerrone’s “renter”
