Is it understandable that Ricky wanted to die?

I understand that. Sad...as no 11 year old should be in any situation to ever have a glimmer of that thought. I'm almost sure that Ricky being taken was NOT a random act. His father didn't even report him. I think he arranged this abduction with this monster.

I not only understood Ricky feeling this way, I have been hoping for this sweet release for him - I don't think he can be helped to recover from what he's been through. How could you ever forget that?

I imagine he would welcome death rather than what's happening to him. I find his sections torturous to read.
