Imagine your local Association's big three-day book sale, the one where books fill the whole auditorium, or parking lot, or building. Bookthing is like walking into, say, the morning of the second day, when it's a bit picked over but there's still good stuff there. Only BookThing is always open, and - *everything* is free!

BookThing is the project of one local man which grew beyond his wildest hopes and now has a permanent location in a warehouse in the middle of Baltimore; you walk in, drop off any books you want to donate, then wander into the building and take out as many as you want. That's all there is to it.

The books are organized into broad genre/subject categories, but nothing beyond that, so you've got to be ready to look, and don't expect to find any real valuable treasures. But they've got a broad selection, and did I mention - it's all free? Also, dress for the weather, because you are, actually, in a warehouse with no climate control. Parking is limited, but we had no problem finding some, and it's in a pretty nice neighborhood (for Baltimore.)
