What did you think to the ending of the book?

I thought the ending was a bit anti-climatic because there's no way I believe what they found (a lost city) and too many people died. It didn't seem like Cotton needed to be involved with that family. They were a waste of his time and energy.

I thought the ending was uninteresting and unexciting. I was glad to be done with it.

I liked that Cotton's dad left him a message in his letter. This was enough to round my final rating up rather than down from the .25 of a star.

That was so sad. It had me in tears.

I think that was definitely a positive.

>5 EadieB: Eadie, I think anyone who has lost their father couldn't help but be moved by that.

Unfortunately it was the only moving point in the book.

And he was only 10 when he lost his father. So sad!

Ending was as ho-hum as the rest of the book.
The only redeeming factor was the lovely letter left by Dad. I'm so glad Cotton got some resolution but am sorry the answer could not give him peace--too much anger at the crew being abandoned.

>10 bluebird_: I agree that the ending didn't match the big build up that the book presented throughout. The letter was a nice touch though.

it was kind of flat and didn't really change my thoughts on the book overall. It was nice that Cotton finally got closure as did the Oberhauser family. I'm also glad that Dyals is being roasted by the media and that Ramsey got what he had coming (I would have been SO mad if he'd survived the book)
