How could Ramsey bringing up the logbook of NR-1A be significant?

The secret discovery is recorded in the logbook. Whoever has the book has the secret.

It suggests to me that Ramsey was able to get into the sub and it was unflooded, therefore a salvage operation could have been carried out to retrieve the wreck and the bodies, with no need for all this secrecy and lies.
We obviously were not given the whole story of the sinking of the sub in the prologue, merely the bare bones of what was happening.

We got so little information from the prologue it's difficult to even guess. I think the secret discovery must be documented in the logbook. I'm confused as to how Ramsey got it. He wasn't gone that long and the logbook was still dry.

>4 Olivermagnus: Come to think of it, Lynda - how could Ramsey get into the sub, it was supposedly sunk at a depth of 2,500 feet?

>5 Sergeirocks: - Get in, get out with a dry logbook less than an hour later. The crew and logbook must not have been submerged anymore. Maybe they are living in a lost civilization city that is in its own protective barrier. Crazy, but not totally crazy the way this story is headed.

Maybe something has to do with the fact that there are 2 subs and maybe the NR-1 is the real one that sunk and for some reason they want everyone to think that it was the NR-1A and they need to keep that logbook hidden.

>5 Sergeirocks: There was a passage that was described as there being rocks where there should have been ice and unfrozen lakes. I think the sub is located in a tunnel or a cave and not in 2,500 feet of water. They must have found a "village" that some civilization had made under the ice. That would explain how Ramsey had been able to get into the sub and recover the log book.

>6 Olivermagnus: I'm with you Lynda. Are they still alive in some lost civilisation but can't come back for some reason. The logbook definitely means it was not destroyed. More puzzles!

No idea how Ramsey got the log book or what is it's significance. (Gosh, I'm useless this read--I have nothing to offer to the discussion-so sorry!)

>11 bluebird_: No need to apologise, Bb, a few of us are struggling to grasp the salient bits in this story.
