Here is a link with information on a "tagmash".

It's how you would search for multiple tags at once (since this is an important aspect of PBT!)

http://www.librarything.com/wiki/index.php/Tagmash

Also, any links, you can save to your home page under Notes. (That's where I have this saved... and it reminds me I want to save other links, as well, with instructions on how to do things.)

Ok, not necessarily your profile, but I'm thinking "your books" can fit in this thread, as well. :-)

I wanted to let people know that you can give 1/2 stars here at LibraryThing. It's a bit "funny" the way to do it. I had to ask someone, but I suspect some (many?) of you might be interested in this feature.

When you are clicking on the stars to rate them, just click twice in a row on the star just above where you want to rate. So, if you want to give 4.5 stars, click twice in succession on the 5 stars.

Clicking a third time clears the stars.

I see I mentioned "Notes" in describing something else in another thread. I'm not sure I explained how to use Notes.

Notes are on your Home page (you can customize your home page for what you want to see and the order it appears in).
ETA: It's actually called "Your Notepad"

Under notes, when you add a new note, just click on "add a note", type in the text you want, and you're adding in a URL for what you want to save as a note. Your text will then become a link to the URL you saved.

Hmmm, that's what I've done. Maybe you don't have to put a URL. Maybe you can just type yourself out a note.

Thanks LibraryCin for making this group. I'll be using it as even though I've been a member on LT for awhile I'll miss shelfari.

>7 LibraryCin: regarding notes. I find notes really useful for creating a list of LT pages that I found hard to navigate to. It means I can always find them again. On your Home screen your notes are called Your Notepad. For example, you could put a link to this group as a note in Your Notepad. You can reorder this module to be at the top of your home screen.

>10 ScoLgo: I know, quite a while back, I "customized" my home page. It was one of the options and I have it there, but if I try to explain where, it probably wouldn't be the same for you.

Wait! I just double checked. It's a section called "Your Notepad". There is a green link underneath that says +Add a Note. Maybe do a Ctrl-F (Find) on your Home page to find where it is?

>11 LibraryCin: Nope. Not seeing it. I have scoured my home page and profile page. Also gone through all the settings I can find and there is neither hide nor hair of a 'Notepad' function. I'm usually pretty computer savvy, (been using 'em since the 80s), but I will also admit that I sometimes, (ok, often), miss the obvious.

Does anyone know where I would go to add this function? It sure sounds handy...

Yep, MJ is up earlier than me, haha. Mine resides in the "about you" page. I suppose I ought to move it to the home page proper, since it's one of the only reasons I ever actually go to the home page, and then I have to wait for it to load and make an extra click, lol.

Ene 21, 2016, 4:05 am

I joined before the home page was created and rarely look at it, so most things are where they started out.

Yeah when it became a thing I went through and moved some stuff around, but, I still rarely use it.

Well, I'm glad you all found it for ScoLgo! I must have been "exploring" early on and found it then... and figured out how to move it to my home page! :-)

>16 MarthaJeanne: and >17 .Monkey.: It's my default page when I come here (or maybe just the page I bookmarked? No, when I log in from elsewhere, that's where I go). To be honest, I only occasionally scroll down it. I usually go to my books if I'm updating something or come over to Talk.

I'm really only ever in Talk or my books, aside of the occasional search for a title/author, or doing some combining or so forth. But yeah, Talk is the big part of why I hang out here so, I don't bother with the home page at all. :P

Is there a way to change my user name on my profile? I want it to match my other groups. Actually there's more to it. I also want my user name to be one that was signed for in 2005 but never used.

>22 blueberry: I'm not sure this is the value you are looking to change but, if you click 'Profile' on the chocolate bar, then 'Edit profile and account' and then 'Change or delete'... is that it?

26.Monkey.
Ene 23, 2016, 4:00 am

>25 ScoLgo: Yes, that is where you can submit a username change. However, switching accounts is more difficult.

>22 blueberry: Do you have the pw for it, or was it attached to an email you still have where you could retrieve a reset? They would probably need to verify that you are indeed the person who created the account, even if it's empty. But if you have that, then you can either import your books there, or contact staff to see if they could work their magic to merge things for you.
