Dear friends,

(pre anouncement)
At http://www.historische-kommission-muenchen-editionen.de/ the following files are available.
/beacond/yivoenc.php?beacon
/beacond/jewishenc.php?beacon&full=1

These are computer exchange files retaling to authority control datas, here only to the German National Library DNB.

It is about a correlation of the person names in the articles at the YIVO Encyclopedia http://www.yivoencyclopedia.org/ and DNB. Spellings used at YIVO should enter the DNB spelling lists for the identified authors.

Hopefully a version suitable for humans will be available soon. How to read the second file?
The first line
"100037232|/articles/3160-berruyer-joseph-isaac|" relates to the PND (German authority control number) for
http://d-nb.info/gnd/100037232/
Person: Berruyer, Isaac-Joseph
Andere Namen (other names):
Berruyer, Isaac J.
Berruyer, Joseph Isaac (WBIS)

http://www.yivoencyclopedia.org/article.aspx/Berekhyah_Berakh_ben_Yitshak is the url for the YIVO article about "Berekhyah Berakh ben Yitsḥak".
"3160" is (probably the YIVO web site page id).
As far as I can understand "berruyer-joseph-isaac" is used in internal (?) DNB search to identify the record.

Special thanks to Matthias Reinert ☛¹ for his support about linking to YIVO Encyclopedia. During a meeting held yesterday in the "cantina" of the bayerischestaatsbibl:Bavarian State Library we identified similar sites as "Электронная еврейская энциклопедия - ЭЕЭ ®" http://www.eleven.co.il/ and "JewishEncyclopedia.com" http://www.jewishencyclopedia.com/ .

I wish that more people get involved in this "inter site linking". We need language specialist, historians, technical skilled people as well as many contributors to add LibraryThing common knowledge, pictures, books, to combine author urls generated by the different spellings and scripts. We need contacts abroad. We need to benefit from the knowledge of librarians, people participating in OCLC, wikipedians interested in good sources for authors, persons and other articles. Last but not least anybody related to / linked to / moved by the writers, poets, activists, simple people is welcome here.

I apologize for any spelling and wording error. I never learned English in school (except for three months at the age of 16 years).

zol zayn mit mazl!
