If so, which one?

If not, would you go? If not, why not? What would convince you to go?

I've been debating this question for two years now, but I always have a (BookCrossing) conflict. The weekend of convention is a city festival in which I have a BookCrossing table where I give away books. This year was extra special fun because I did it with two other BookCrossers (instead of just myself), and we gave away about 300 books (instead of just 25).

Well I *ran* the last UK one (the UNconvention!) as part of a committee of 4.

You get to indulge in your hobby without tuts and stares, (in my case) see your home town filled with wild books, and meet all those people you only know from the computer!

But it's one week away from our big giving-away-books-at-the-festival event, and I don't know what I'd do if the 2 actually clashed. I guess there is a big pool of local BCers I could call on to run that...

Hope that helps!

I've been to three: St. Louis, Fort Worth and Toronto. All were tremendous fun, not least because I got to meet many people in person whom I only knew online. I've made a few lasting friendships. And, of course, the opportunity to talk books and see a new city was grand.

I was very disappointed that I couldn't make the convention in Charleston this year, but, having made an overseas trip in February, I couldn't manage either the time or the money.

I'm hoping to get to London next year, and New Zealand the year after that, if the pennies cooperate.

I went to the Charleston convention in April and met people I've known on-line for three years. It was wonderful!

But I can't afford to attend the distant conventions. Who knows when another convention will be within driving distance for me? It was go this year--or perhaps never get to one.

They sound like so much fun.

I was at a BC meeting here in Maryland and spoke to ResQGeek who talked about how much fun convention was. Did you meet him in Charleston?

I might actually try to go next year. I believe it's going to be in San Francisco...a great city!
