what books should not have gone out of print?

What work would you like to see revived? Is there an abandoned Newbery Award winner out there we should Ask about? Or Just something that was to good to lose.

One of my favorite childhood picture books, Need a House? Call Ms. Mouse!, is absolutely gorgeous, sadly out of print, and fetching $150 for a used copy the last time I checked.

Children's fiction seems to go out of print almost immediately if it isn't by a big, big name author or illustrator. For example, recently I've tried to find "Oh, Were They Ever Happy" by Peter Spiers, "Zeralda's Ogre" by Tomi Ungerer and "A House by the Sea" by Joanne Ryder. They are very popular with pre-school children but my copies are in tatters. Sometimes they are just too expensive to replace with the rare copies found on Amazon.

Nothing by James Marshall, Mercer Mayer, or Daniel Pinkwater should ever be out of print. I mean, how INSANE is it that some of Steven Kellogg's book are out of print?!

There are lot of idiot's in children's publishing, who don't particularly understand what makes a book popular or appealing.

The Wonderful O and The 13 Clocks, both by James Thurber, are beautiful books with wonderful perfect-for-reading-aloud language.
