Sobre mí
As the grandson of a famous songwriter in Mexico, Joalby comes by his musical talent honestly.
An accomplished composer and lyricist, he has written and/or produced material for Todd Evans of NBC's Fame and Candice Coleman of American Idol 2, & Veronica Stewart of Australia Idol under his own label, Crazy Baby Records. He finds fulfillment in collaborating with other artists.
Yet the goals Joalby has for his music entail much more than performance and recording. While his "passion will always be in the arts", he says his "calling has always been in helping others. " The overarching goal is not to simply support a cause but to bring attention to social issues and the actual human suffering related to that cause. In a recent interview with V Generations, Joalby said, "[I find it] incredibly selfish of myself to stand by and not do anything with my gift to benefit others." Indeed, during the past few years, Joalby has proven that music can be used as a tool to reach out and touch the lives of the oppressed as well as serve as a catalyst to energize others in support of social causes.
In 2006, Joalby envisioned, organized, and served as executive producer on a major project to benefit the work of The United Nations Refugee Agency. Through global personal connections, a collaboration among international musicians resulted in a compilation CD, "Voyces United For UNHCR", to raise awareness for the plight of 19 million refugees in 116 countries worldwide. "What mattered to me is the pain they felt, the hurt, and the loss they've experienced, the hardness they had to portray to survive, the innocence lost."
Joalby had found his purpose in life and is relentless in its pursuit. In his words, "a spiritual calling to use our art to bring people together... to raise people's awareness to the plight of individuals overcoming obstacles whether it be in life, love, or otherwise."
Defying the concept of failure, Joalby has single-handedly launched or collaborated in support of several significant projects relevant to a wide variety of social causes tied to persecution of the human spirit, including diversity acceptance, anti-hate crime, and other LGBT-related issues. Joalby describes himself as "one person wanting to make a difference and let people know that you don't have to be a celebrity or have million in the bank to make a difference."
"We must stand up for a change and come together to raise the awareness of those many others who at this moment have not yet embraced their truth. Pushing away the truth will not help us grow, yet if we embrace the truth and make a change it will help us grow and grow complete."
