York in Transition is a diverse group of individuals who share a common interest: To encourage community-led action to deal with rising fuel prices and the increasingly chaotic weather.

There is overwhelming scientific agreement about the problems that we're facing. Here at York in Trasition we don't have the solutions, but we are convinced that:

* change can be scary, but it is necessary
* if we wait for the governments (national and local), it will be too little, too late
* if we act as individuals, it will be too little
* but if we act as a community to solve our particular problems, it will be effective, it might be enough, it might be in time, and it could encourage the government to act.
