Sobre mi biblioteca
I've parted with many books over the years, so looking at my library today won't tell you the whole story. I'm contemplating another move sometime soon. So, I'm downsizing again. It's hard. I find I am buying eBooks, and they have their good points. But I still love the thrill of curling up with a big hardcover edition.

When I was in college, and getting trained as a journalist, I was all about the New Journalism. I read many award-winning articles by writers whose names are lost to my memory. I did get a kick out of Hunter Thompson's stuff, and I admired the work of Stud's Terkel, too.

Then came my return to my first love, humor. I read a great deal of Twain when I was a kid, but some of that, to my mind, hasn't aged all that well. I found others, including Ring Lardner and some of James Thurber has stood the test of time. I also admire the sharp wit of Dorthy Parker. I also enjoy Nora Ephron, and the silly southern stylists, including Fanny Flagg, Roy Blount, Jr. and Lewis Grizzard. I've not read all that much Dave Barry, although people say my style is like his. In the world of children's books, I'm a huge fan of Roald Dahl.

I also respect and enjoy everything I've ever read written by Bill Bryson.

The single writer I most admire and wish to emulate would be Kurt Vonnegut. His stuff was funny, insightful and biting without being mean. He said that an interviewer once noted he had no villians in his books. That's my goal. If anyone comes off looking bad, I'd just as soon it be me.
Sobre mí
I'm an avid reader and an author. My tastes have changed over the years, but I've always loved comedy, especially in the short form.

I've been a newspaper reporter, but when my kids came along I switched over to teaching so I could spend the time with them I thought they deserved. I know many people manage to write while their kids are small, I found this difficult. I did write, but had trouble getting any of my humor published. I did break into the top 10 in the Writer's Digest Screenwriting competition, but then couldn't sell the story.

These days I've found my groove. I have finished two books and am well under way on my third. Other projects are in the wings.

Check out my website for information on these books and upcoming events.
