Sobre mi biblioteca

Books from The Folio Society make up the core of my post-retirement library. I started out with "regular" paperbacks and hardbacks before discovering The Folio Society. I have also ordered one or two books from each of Amaranthine Books, Conversation Tree Press, Fine Press Poetry, No Reply Press, Suntup Editions, Sutton Hoo Press and Zagava to get a feel for what's on offer.

I am most interested in literature but am always on the lookout for a good non-fiction book too. I really enjoyed Christiane Ritter's A Woman in the Polar Night for example. I used to have a soft spot for Russian literature. Now I am more inclined to read Japanese literature. Yoko Ogawa's The Housekeeper and the Professor and Natsume Soseki's Kokoro are recent reads that hit the spot.

Sobre mí

The first 20 years of my life I rarely read. Then I read Kafka's The Trial and I realised why. I hadn't read anything that inspired me before. The next 20 years or so I read "quality" literature - a couple of books a month. Then work got too busy and reading fell by the wayside except for an occasional book on vacation. Now I am recently retired and finally blessed with the time and energy to read as well as look for and collect beautiful books. Now I read a couple of books a week, a broader range of books including non-fiction and crime fiction. I read my first Stephen King book for example.

I read Folio Society Devotees and Fine Press Forum groups on LibraryThing frequently and have learned a lot. It's a wonderful forum. I have signed up for the 75 book challenge.
