This book covers, almost exclusively, the church of Christ stream of the Stone-Campbell religious heritage, which is the intent of the author. The author relied heavily on the work by Herman Norton, Tennessee Christians.

Attention is given to issues which caused splits in the early churches (missionary societies, instrumental music, and other issues) as well as the primary characters involved.

The book includes a bibliography and an index. There are no photos.

Persons interested in the history of the churches of Christ in Tennessee are likely to benefit from this book, but I also recommend reading Norton's book.
